Lewis Carl Hamilton is a British Formula One racing driver from England, currently racing for the McLaren Mercedes team. He is the youngest ever Formula One champion. In addition he is the first driver of black heritage to compete in Formula One.

He was born on 7 January 1985 in Hertfordshire, England. His father promised to support his son while he worked hard at school. When supporting his son became problematic his father took redundancy from his position as an IT manager and become a contractor, sometimes doing up to three jobs at a time. His father is the architect of his present and Hamilton owes his success to him.

Hamilton’s Formula One career began in 2007 where he was paired with defending double world champion Fernando Alonso who had joined McLaren after leaving Renault. Hamilton finished the season with a commendable 2nd Rank. For the 2008 F1 season he was paired with Heikki Kovaldinen. He won the Australian Grand Prix and finished 5th in the Malaysian Grand Prix,3rd in Spanish Grand Prix and 2nd in Turkish Grand Prix. In the last race of the season he needed to finish 5th which he did and clinched the 2008 F1 world championship.

Many times in his career Hamilton was subjected to racial discrimination which he faced gracefully. In the ongoing 2009 F1 season he is all set to defend his title. He finished 7nd in Malaysian Grand Prix, 6th in Chinese’s Grand Prix ,4th and 9th in Bahrian and Spanish Grand Prix respectively. Hamilton currently holds the records of the most consecutive podiums from debut race, youngest driver to lead world championship and youngest F1world champion.
