IPL, a name that no one in this world can forget, INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE has made a great impact in minds of people. Passion, Emotion, Drama, Comedy, Competition, Excitement… what else do you want!

Last year, IPL started in April & made viewers forget all other tensions. It made people just stick to their T.V sets & cheer for their favorite teams. It was rightly tag lined as “Manoranjan ka baap” (father of entertainment) which means father of entertainment.

IPL Logos of LeagesEvery match of IPL made viewers to hold their breath up to the last ball. In this competition of cricket, 8 teams participated. Each team was bought by bidding in auction. In each match, one team was home team and one team was visitor. In this way, IPL got maximum crowd in every match. Let us take a look at some of the interesting facts of IPL…

  • IPL was a real pricey league as it involved a grand total budget of $10000 millions!
  • The first season of IPL was won by Rajasthan Royals which was also the cheapest team in IPL.
  • The most expensive team was Mumbai Indians purchased by Mukesh Ambani. The net worth of team was  $114.7 million.
  • A total of 2320 boundaries were hit in IPL 2008 which involved 592 sixes & 1728 fours.
  • A total of 6 centuries were hit in IPL 2008. None of them was hit by an Indian player.
  • In IPL 2008, Shaun Marsh of Kings XI Punjab won orange cap for scoring maximum runs & Sohail Tanvir of Rajasthan Royals won purple cap for taking highest number of wickets.
  • Deccan Chargers was able to won just 2 out of its 14 matches, thus becoming most unsuccessful team of IPL.
  • Rajasthan Royals was the only team whose skipper & coach both were same i.e Shane Warne.
  • CHEERLEADERS in outfield acted as cherry on the cake.

This year, IPL season 2 has been shifted to South Africa due to unavailability of security by state government but the excitement is expected to rise even more this year. Lets see, will IPL once again be the hotcake in the town. Don’t miss it!
